Tree Maintenance
The City of Spruce Grove takes pride in the variety of trees that grow in our city including the green ash, elm, bur oak, mountain ash, lilac, and poplar.
It is important that trees in our community are healthy and safe, to do this the City completes seasonal tree maintenance for trees on City property, that reduces hazards and maintains pedestrian and property safety.
City tree maintenance includes the planting, pruning, and replacement of unhealthy trees in parks, residential boulevards, and along roadways.
- Tree planting typically takes place in the spring and fall.
- Tree pruning and other tree maintenance generally takes place from April – October to support long-term tree health, tree appearance, and pedestrian and traffic safety.
- Tree removal is sometimes necessary and will occur when a tree has been identified as unhealthy by an arborist. Upon tree removal, the City will replace the unhealthy tree at a future date with a new tree to maintain tree density and city appearance.
