Public Walkways

Public walkways are cleared using a priority system:

  • Priority one A walkways are cleared within 24 hours of a snowfall ending. This includes snow removal on public walkways adjacent to City-owned buildings and transit stops.
  • Priority one B walkways are cleared within 48 hours of a snowfall ending and are typically located along arterial and collector road right-of-ways, and near private properties.
  • Priority two walkways are cleared based on available City resources and are typically located in parks, around stormwater management facilities and in forested areas.

During times of prolonged snowfall, freezing rain or other severe weather events, City resources will be refocused on priority one A walkway routes as necessary. Spruce Grove Transit stops are cleared within 24 hours after an accumulation of snow, on scheduled transit service days.
