I have a fire pit or outdoor fireplace in my backyard. Do I need a permit?

Yes. It is mandatory to have a fire permit in order to keep our community safe. The permit is FREE to residents of Spruce Grove.

I just moved to Spruce Grove and the previous property owner had a fire pit permit. Do I need one as well?

Yes, please complete the application form, with a drawing and photo included, to have it re-inspected and a permit issued in the current occupants name.

Who do I call if smoke from my neighbour’s fire pit is bothersome?

Call Spruce Grove Enforcement Services at 780-962-7586 to make a complaint.

How can I find out if there is a fire ban in place?

Visit Alberta Fire Bans for information about fire bans in Alberta or call Spruce Grove Protective Services at 780-962-4496.

Does my propane fire table require a fire pit permit?

Propane fire tables do not require a fire services permit for use, however they must meet CSA or CAN/ULC standards and be operated as per their manufacturers recommendations.
