Integrated Transportation Master Plan Project

The integrated Transportation Master Plan (iTMP) is a long-term plan for the City’s transportation network. This plan will serve as a comprehensive blueprint for the City’s transportation infrastructure and services. It is a forward-thinking strategy that addresses the current and future mobility needs of residents, businesses, and visitors. This is a crucial plan when making investment choices in our transportation infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, trails, and transit. These decisions will shape the future mobility of our city. The iTMP is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2024.

What is the project?

The City is updating its current Transportation Master Plan to create a more up to date version to reflect the current transportation needs of Spruce Grove. This updated plan will help identify areas that they would like to see grow and evolve to where we want to be in the future.

Why are we doing this project?

The new iTMP will provide the City with a roadmap to guide municipal decisions and set priorities for the entire transportation system. There are always competing needs for how people and goods move within Spruce Grove and an iTMP will identify and recommend priorities that will balance how the City invests in mobility as it grows.

The iTMP will help Spruce Grove make wise investment choices in our transportation future for the next 25 years. By supporting roads, sidewalks, trails, transit, and movement, the City’s transportation network can be connected, reliable, and resilient.

Community Involvement

The City invited residents, business owners, and all interested parties to share their thoughts on how we can plan for a transportation network that will support a safe, accessible, and healthy community through an online interactive map that was available online from October 4 – November 17, 2023.

People were asked to think about:

  • What is working and what do you like about the current system?
  • What would you like to improve?
  • What concerns do you have?

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share feedback through this online map.

What’s next?

An update was provided to Council during a Governance and Priorities meeting on January 15, 2024.

Next steps include modelling and scenario testing, network assessment and future operations, and finalizing the iTMP report.
