I was saddened to learn of the passing of Canada's 18th Prime Minster Brian Mulroney.

Mr. Mulroney was a transformative figure in Canadian politics and a true statesman on the world stage. He was the driving force behind some of the most significant initiatives in Canadian politics and helped build our country into the prosperous home we all enjoy today.

On behalf of my colleagues on Spruce Grove City Council and the residents of our community, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mulroney family and the former prime minister’s friends and colleagues.

Flags at Spruce Grove City Hall and on all City flag poles will be lowered to half-mast as we pay our respects.
