Reducing financial barriers to public transit

February 14, 2024

Eligible residents now have access to subsidized public transit, reducing the financial barrier to reliable transportation.

The Low-Income Transit Pass provides eligible, low-income individuals and newcomers to Canada the opportunity to purchase monthly transit passes at a reduced rate, allowing them to access public transportation within the Tri-Region as well as commuter service to Edmonton. Residents of Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Parkland County can purchase transit passes at a discounted rate of $25 for local travel and $50 for commuter service. Individuals are approved for the program on a yearly basis and proof of address and income is required.

Newcomers to Canada are eligible to receive a free transit pass for the first three months, after which they can purchase a pass at the subsidized rate for the remainder of the year.
