New pieces added to Municipal Art Collection

Eleven new works of locally crafted art and photography have been added to the City of Spruce Grove’s Municipal Art Collection. Members of Spruce Grove City Council recently made the selections during the 2024 Open Art Competition hosted by the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove. Pieces selected for 2024 include:

  • “Forever Sisters” by Diane Strunger-Corbett – Acrylic
  • “Feathers” by Faith Gerhardt – Acrylic
  • “Winter Prep” by Gabrielle Vandermeer – Watercolour
  • “Venerable Trees in a Crowd” by Gail Seemann – Oil
  • “African Woman” by Hillary Gillet – Acrylic
  • “Raydar Hill Sunset” by Irene Gardner – Watercolour
  • “Elevated Protector” by Jonathan MacGillvray – Photography
  • “A Range of Blues” by Judy MacCallun – Acrylic
  • “Sunflower for Ukraine” by Raynelle Paramonova – Western Raku Clay
  • “Northern Lights on a Backroad” by Theresa Muth – Photography
  • “Tangle Creek Falls” by Theresa Muth – Photography

“Each of these works of art capture the essence and beauty of our community in their own unique way while reflecting the diverse talent we are fortunate to have right here at home,” said Mayor Jeff Acker. “These pieces are much more than just something beautiful to look at; they play a crucial role in enriching our community, fostering a sense of unity and connection, and reinforcing the vibrancy that defines our city.”

The City’s Municipal Art Collection now includes more than 250 pieces of original artwork including paintings, sculptures, pottery, line drawings and photographs. This year’s selections and the complete collection can be viewed on the Municipal Art Collection web page.
