Six new works of locally crafted artwork have been added to the City of Spruce Grove’s Municipal Art Collection. Members of Spruce Grove City Council recently made the selections during the 2023 Open Art Competition hosted by the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove. Pieces selected for 2023 include:

  • “Wilderness Bear” by Faith Gerhardt - Acrylic
  • “Gift of Autumn” by Katharina Nebel - Watercolour
  • “Rocky Rapids” by Maria Sieben - Mixed Media
  • “Forest Fantasy” by Doris Pinkoski - Watercolour
  • “Mermaid” by Alan Funk - Acrylic
  • “Cecil” by Nicole Deibert - Watercolour

“It’s an honour and a privilege to add these new pieces to our art collection, while also supporting some incredible local talent,” said Mayor Jeff Acker. “Crafted with tremendous passion and skill, these pieces are not just decorations; they’re a nod to the world-class artists and talent we have right here in the Tri Region.”

The City’s Municipal Art Collection includes more than 240 pieces of original works of art, including paintings, sculptures, pottery, line drawings and photographs. This year’s selections and the complete collection can be viewed on the Municipal Art Collection webpage.
