Longview Park Playground being replaced; temporary closure starting September 25

September 21, 2023

Starting next week, the Longview Park Playground is being replaced as part of the City’s ongoing lifecycle maintenance program. The City regularly inspects and replaces playgrounds to ensure they remain safe and up to date as part of regular lifecycle maintenance work.

The playground will be closed starting on September 25 until approximately early November to install the new equipment.

The new playground will feature a variety of activities for both the 2-5 and 5-12 age groups. There will be two slides, climbing walls, an obstacle course, motion play, and more! The sand will also be replaced with engineered wood fibre as it is easier to clean and is safer, especially in the winter months.

While the playground is closed for construction, residents are encouraged to use other nearby playgrounds such as Aspenglen Park or Fairway Park.

Please remember to keep a safe distance from the construction equipment and to always stay outside of the fenced areas.

The existing playground equipment will be donated to community that is in need of playground equipment.
