Civic Centre project update – July 2024

Interior work is keeping construction crews busy at the Civic Centre site, with an average of 120 workers on site per day using 15 lifts in the building to help with overhead work. Here are some highlights from the July:
Spectator arena
- The main ducting, sprinkler system, and lights over top of the ice surface have been installed and painting of the ceiling is nearly complete.
- The structure for the media booth has been installed and the second-floor bathrooms, concession, and storage rooms have been framed.
- Mechanical and electrical rough-in work continues throughout the arena.
- Most of the major mechanical equipment has been installed and the systems are being hooked up.
Community arena
- The ducting, lighting, sprinkler system, and painting over top of the ice surface is now complete and construction of the ice slab has started with the installation of the sand base.
- All the block walls in the arena have been completed, including dressing rooms, staff and referee rooms, the concession, and mechanical rooms.
- In the dressing rooms, all the rough-ins are complete, the drywall ceilings have been installed, and painting is ongoing.
Exterior work
- The parking area on the east side of the building has been completed.
- The remaining underground services in the west parking area have been installed and the area is being prepared for paving.
- Parking islands, curbs, and piles for parking lot lights have also been installed.
Other progress
- The floor slab for the lobby, art gallery, and the Spruce Grove Public Library branch is now complete and interior walls are being framed.
- On the black box theatre, the second level control room has been installed and the mechanical and electrical rough-ins have started.
- Work on the canopy at the front entrance is underway with the installation of the concrete base, columns, and steel structure.
