City reminds job seekers to beware of scammers
The City of Spruce Grove has recently been made aware of scammers impersonating City employees on Indeed.com (and potentially other job platforms). We take this matter very seriously and want to ensure you are informed and protected.
If you are applying for a job with the City, here are a few things to keep in mind:
The City communicates with job applicants through official email addresses (e.g., @sprucegrove.org) or via our secure online job portal. We do not use personal email accounts or messaging apps to contact candidates.
All job openings are listed on our official website at www.sprucegrove.org/Careers. We recommend applying directly through our site to ensure your application is legitimate.
Red flags to watch for:
- Requests for sensitive personal information (e.g., Social Insurance Numbers, banking details) early in the application process.
- Emails or messages from generic email domains such as Gmail, Live or Outlook.
- Job offers without an interview.
- Pressure to act quickly or provide immediate payment for training or other expenses.
If you suspect a scam or encounter suspicious activity, please report it to the City immediately at hrgeneral@sprucegrove.org and to the job platform (ie. Indeed.com) where you found the listing.
We are committed to keeping our recruitment process safe and transparent for all job seekers. Thank you.
