City celebrates reaching 40,000 population milestone; commemorative pin available
Spruce Grove is now home to 40,000 people, a milestone that was officially celebrated at Canada Day with a special commemorative pin.
Mayor Jeff Acker made the announcement during the Canada Day opening ceremony in Jubilee Park on July 1 and pins were handed out throughout the day.
“Spruce Grove is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Alberta and we have seen the benefits of this, with the addition of new businesses, services, and investment in our community,” said Mayor Acker. “We have also welcomed thousands of new residents to Spruce Grove and are so glad they have made this city their home.”
The City conducted a municipal census in 2023, at which time Spruce Grove had a population of 38,985. Based on projection calculations, City Administration was able to determine the community would reach 40,000 by the end of June 2024.
Commemorative pins are now available to the community (while supplies last) at City Hall Reception or the Border Paving Athletic Centre.
