The City of Spruce Grove’s Environment and Transit Department is the lead role for sustainability initiatives within the City organization and for the larger community of Spruce Grove.  The Environment and Transit Department focuses on various initiatives which include: waste minimization programming and education; water conservation; energy efficiency; greenhouse gas inventory analysis and programming; climate adaptation; natural areas planning and management coordination, air quality monitoring and environmental liabilities.

The Department is also responsible for the management of the Spruce Grove Transit system, this is currently done through a contract with Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) for the operation and maintenance of the system.  The Department also collaborates with the Tri-Region Municipal partners to plan for future transit growth, including local and regional service expansions.
