Community Volunteer Income Tax Program Volunteers
Lend a Hand! Assisting with tax filing is a recognized key strategy to reduce poverty. Filing an income tax and benefit return can empower individuals to escape poverty, settle debts, and establish a savings plan by ensuring they don't lose out on existing benefits and make the most of financial support. Spruce Grove Community Social Development (CSD) operates a tax clinic throughout the year, offering free tax preparation services to those with a modest income and straightforward tax situations. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) supplies tax software and online training for volunteers. Additionally, CSD trains volunteers on software usage and teaches them to identify situations when taxpayers might be missing out on benefits or financial aid.
