Teen Takeover

Hey, teens of Spruce Grove! This event is for you! And it's FREE!

Teen Takeover is a night where parents stay home and teens get the opportunity to "take over" the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre. Teens 13-18 will have exclusive access of the pool and gymnasium at the TLC for FREE from 9–11 p.m. on May 23, 2026

Join in and bring your friends for a night of fun with swimming, drop-in gym activities, and free food!

How to register

Please note, for the Teen wishing to participate, their legal caregiver must be the individual to complete the registration and sign the program waiver.  If this is prohibitive of participation, please email a member of our team.

Please note: The registration deadline is May 22 and 12 p.m.

What you need to know

Make sure to keep these details in mind after registration has been completed:

  • Attendance is through registration only and a participant must be registered by their guardian.
  • There will be NO onsite registration available.  All those wishing to attend must pre-register.
  • Pre-registration is required and walk-in registrations will not be permitted. 
  • Sign-in starts at 8:30 p.m. and access to facilities begins at 9 p.m.
  • There will be a bag check for participants upon arrival.
  • Liquids will not be permitted, however, if a participant brings an empty water bottle there are water fountains on site.
  • There is no re-entry once a participant has decided to leave the event / program.
  • The event ends at 11 p.m. and at that point all teens must leave the building.
  • Supervision is provided by the TLC and City of Spruce Grove staff.
  • Participants must bring clean indoor shoes, bathing suit and a towel, and a lock / change for lockers to secure valuables.

Program Staff

Teen Takeover is supervised by City of Spruce Grove Program Staff and TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre Staff. City of Spruce Grove Program Staff are certified in Intermediate First Aid and CPR, High Five® Principles of Healthy Child Development, and receive additional City of Spruce Grove training.

Inclusion for Participants with Disabilities

We want your child to have the experience during the Program. During the registration process, please let us know about any needs that might affect participation. If your child requires additional support beyond what Program Staff can provide, we may ask you to arrange for a support worker or aide to join at the program.
