Spruce Grove Community Social Development (CSD) offers in-person and virtual programs to support social connections, resiliency, and overall well-being.

Youth Programming

Spruce Grove Community Social Development also offers youth-specific programming.

In-person Programming

The Bridging Connections team consists of Community Social Workers who are dedicated professionals offering compassionate and confidential support to Parkland County residents. Community Social Workers actively listen to individuals, identify solutions, and facilitate connections to pertinent community resources. Their role is to assist residents of all ages and situations in navigating life’s challenges.

November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta. It is a time to increase awareness of the warning signs of family violence and the resources and supports available so we can work together to end family violence and build healthier relationships in our communities. The Tri-Municipal region has come together to create a community event to show their support to people affected by domestic abuse on November 20.

Join us at Landmark Cinemas for screenings of three amazing short films followed by a panel discussion with Jan Reimer (Alberta Council of Women’s Shelter), Lynne Rosychuk (Founder of Jessie’s House), Cherie Potskin (Program Manager, Aboriginal Counseling Services of Alberta) and Stephanie Jansen (Crown representative).

Join us for a family-friendly evening of learning and entertainment featuring Métis musicians, artisans, food, and storytelling. The first 100 people will receive a goody bag!

The Tri-Region Grief Collaborative brochure includes information on registered and drop-in support groups being offered in the region.

Talking Circles come from the culture and traditions of indigenous people in North America. All community members are welcome at these Talking Circles. Listen deeply with an opportunity to understand, learn, and establish a sense of community. Wearing Ribbon skirts/shirts are welcomed.

What does youth mental wellness look like to you? Create a drawing/colouring page on mental health for a chance to be featured in a community colouring book for youth! There are multiple $50 prizes to be won!

SeniorCONNECT 

SeniorConnect Tri-Region is a free, online training program that teaches residents how to recognize and respond to seniors in need. The program is open to all residents in the Tri-Municipal Region and is an excellent way for us to work together to help seniors in our community find local information, resources, and support.

SeniorConnect Tri-Region is a partnership involving Stony Plain FCSS and Spruce Grove Community Social Development (CSD), and is made up of six training modules focused on:

  1. Why connecting with seniors is important
  2. Caregiver burnout
  3. Mental illness: dementia, delirium and depression
  4. Elder abuse
  5. Addictions
  6. Diversity
