Reid Schaefer

Reid Schaefer’s love of hockey began while playing for teams within Spruce Grove’s Minor Hockey Association, which led to him attending the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Edmonton, playing for the Spruce Grove Saints, and being drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League when he was just 14 years old.

Reid was invited to tryout for the Canadian Men’s World Junior Hockey Team, making it through several rounds of cuts to be part of the team that would go on to win gold at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship. Originally drafted in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers in 2022, Reid was traded to the Nashville Predators where he will start his NHL career in the 2023-2024 season.

Reid is known as a role model amongst his peers for his exceptional work ethic, strong leadership skills, and commitment to his community and his sport.
