Transit Survey Results

In March and May 2018, the citizens of Spruce Grove and the surrounding communities were invited to participate in on board and online surveys. The surveys were aimed at collecting information about the needs of current riders and potential riders with respect to routes 560, 561 and 562 with service between Spruce Grove, Acheson and Edmonton. On September 17, 2018, Council was presented with the 2018 Transit Survey report, which shows that residents are highly satisfied with the service.

Bus stop upgrades

In 2017, 15 bus stops in Spruce Grove were paved from the previous grass surface. In 2018, ten additional bus stops were paved to ensure public safety and comfort. Additionally, one bus shelter and a number of bike racks will be installed to support multi-mode transit, allowing riders who are not currently within walking distance of a bus stop the opportunity to ride their bike and securely leave it at the bus stop. These upgrades will increase transit accessibility for all passengers and are being funded through a partnership involving the Government of Canada, the Province of Alberta and the City of Spruce Grove.

Bus purchase — local service

A new bus will be purchased to help accommodate a local bus service in Spruce Grove. The new bus is expected to arrive in Spruce Grove in the spring of 2019 and will augment four planned local buses that will be purchased in 2019 and 2020 through GreenTRIP funding. This new bus is being funded through a partnership involving the Government of Canada, the Province of Alberta and the City of Spruce Grove.
