Proposed Single-Use Items Reduction Bylaw receives second reading

February 9, 2021

Spruce Grove City Council has given second reading to the Single-Use Items Reduction Bylaw, which is aimed at aligning the City with other municipalities across the province and country who are taking steps to reduce the amount of plastic contaminating our environment.

In November 2019 Council approved a Single-Use Items Reduction Strategy. The strategy recommends development of a bylaw that would reduce the use of single-use items such as checkout bags, polystyrene containers, and plastic straws.

It is expected the bylaw will come to Council for third reading on February 22.
