Property tax notices have been mailed; tax penalty deferral application available online

May 25, 2020

The City’s annual property tax notices for 2020 have been mailed. Included with this year’s notice is an insert that will provide information on how the City is providing options for short-term financial relief to taxpayers, including the ability to apply to have the penalties on tax balances deferred until Sept. 30, 2020.

Taxpayers who are able to meet the normal tax payment deadline of June 30, 2020, are encouraged to do so. The following methods of payment are accepted:

  • New enrollment in the preauthorized monthly payment plan. Preauthorized payment forms are available online.
  • Payment at most financial institutions in person or through telephone/Internet banking. Please use your tax roll number and allow three to five business days for process.
  • Payments may be left in the mail slot at City Hall, located to the left of the main entrance (include the remittance portion of the tax bill with your cheque).
  • Postdated cheques to June 30, 2020, are accepted.
  • Please include your remittance portion of the tax bill with your payment.

Please note that City Hall is currently not open to accept in-person payments. Credit cards are also not accepted as a method of payment for property taxes.

Failure to receive a tax notice does not affect the responsibility to pay taxes by the due date.

Please note the Province of Alberta has extended the 2020 assessment complaint deadline for all properties to July 1, 2020.
