New guidelines in place for disposing of household garbage, recycling and organics

April 14, 2020

While waste collection services continue to operate in Spruce Grove, it is important that residents dispose of their household garbage, recycling and organics responsibly in order to protect the health and safety of our staff, the community and contract employees for waste collection.

With this in mind, the following guidelines are now in place:

  • New! All household waste must be bagged and tied up before it is placed in the black waste cart.
  • New! All tissue and paper towel must be bagged in a brown paper bag or a compostable bag before they are placed in the green organics cart.
  • Please practice physical distancing and give workers the space they need to work (at least six feet).
  • Do not overload black waste carts or green organics carts; cart lids must be fully closed.
  • Your carts and blue recycling bags must be spaced one metre apart.

Please note: Gloves, masks and disinfecting wipes belong in the black waste cart and must be bagged and tied up before being placed in the black waste cart.

At the Eco Centre

The Eco Centre is currently open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., however we ask that you use this facility for critical needs only.

If you must visit the Eco Centre, please be aware that:

  • New! All household garbage must be bagged and tied up before being dropped off; loose waste will not be accepted.
  • Residents are required to practice physical distancing (at least six feet) while at the facility.
  • Staff are unable to assist in unloading items from your vehicle.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we all do our part to keep our community healthy and well.
