Flags lowered to half-mast to recognize Police and Peace Officer National Memorial Day

September 27, 2018

Flags at City facilities will be lowered to half-mast on Sunday, Sept. 30, to recognize Police and Peace Officer National Memorial Day.

Established in 1998 by the Government of Canada, this day honours police and peace officers who have lost their lives while working to keep Canadian communities safe. This year, the name of six officers will be added to the national memorial in Ottawa. The public is invited to attend a memorial service on the grounds of the Alberta Legislature on Sept. 30 and 1 p.m.
