City reopens playgrounds, but discourages use of structures

May 22, 2020

The City of Spruce Grove will begin to reopen playgrounds starting Friday, May 22, but is discouraging residents from using the structures.

Residents are asked to be patient as it there are approximately 40 playgrounds throughout the city and general maintenance and inspections must occur before they can re-open. A sign (or signs) indicating the playground is open will be posted near the structure when it is ready for use.

Residents are reminded that playground structures are NOT disinfected or cleaned for use and are considered a high risk area due to the multiple touchpoints.

Playground users should:

  • Wash and/or sanitize your hands before and after use (bring your own hand sanitizer).
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Only share common equipment with members of your household.
  • Maintain two metre physical distance from others outside your household.
  • Do not bring toys and limit contact with others following your visit.
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell.

Playground hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and they are for local community use only.
