Programs for Youth

Registration for Spruce Grove FCSS Youth Programs is now open.

Junior Gourmets (ages 8–12)
Do you want to work on your kitchen skills and get creative in making healthy food choices?  Youth are valuable in the kitchen and Junior Gourmets will provide that positive space to actively engage in learning.  Participants will build confidence in the kitchen as they learn safe and proper ways to prepare nutritious meals and snacks.

Babysitter Training (ages 11–14)
Join us as we offer Kidproof Canada's number one course! Babysitter Training is designed to increase positive values of caring and responsibility while building confidence and providing the hands-on experience and skills needed to be a great babysitter.

Home Alone + First Aid (ages 10+)
This is a mix of Kidproof's Home Alone course and Emergency First Aid. The fun and active course teaches planning and decision making. They are given tools on how to respond to medical emergencies and youth are empowered to be at home alone.

Bullyproofing (ages 7–11)
This Kidproof program is designed to be preventative and proactive so that children can avoid being bullied, and if they are bullied, know how to stop it. In an interactive, non-threatening manner, children learn how to become "Bullyproofed". 

Mess with Stress (ages 10–12)
This interactive and preventative summer program is designed to teach youth healthy ways to cope with stress and assist them in handling stressful situations that come their way. Stress is normal and sometimes even a good thing! This class will highlight how stress can affect you mentally, physically and emotionally, and will provide useful resources and tips.

Change Adventure Camp (ages 9–12)
This week-long nature camp will focus on discovery, exploration and health.  Campers will build confidence as they experience the great outdoors, make new friends and learn to set goals.  They will actively engage in learning how to make healthy eating choices and how to lead an active and positive lifestyle.  Activities include hiking, cooking classes, lunch preparation, yoga, geocaching and more!

Teen Adventure Camp (ages 13–15)
This week-long camp is packed with action and adventure!  Youth will interact with others their own age and positive adult role models.  As they go on a new adventure together each day, campers will build confidence exploring the great outdoors, trying new foods, and actively engaging in learning new skills.  Activities include hiking, geocaching, yoga, a daily cooking class and more!
